ARCHIVE | 2005-2015 > Milk Work | 2005-07

These pieces were made using human breast milk, generously donated to me by one mother who had weaned her daughter and had a surplus of un-needed frozen milk, and another nursing mother who had enough to spare. My use of the imagery and materials of lactation and milk are related in part to my mother’s breast cancer survival. The implication of the loss of the source of my original nourishment led me to become intrigued by the quiet possibility of my own body to produce substances and fluids, years before I gave birth to my own child.
